Welcome to the RSS Tutorial.

This is a tutorial about RSS - Really Simple Syndication.

The tutorial provides

• An introduction and overview of RSS.
• For subscribers, consuming RSS.
• For webmasters, generating content using RSS.
• For publishers, creating RSS feeds.
• RSS Reference material.

This tutorial puts emphasis on the benefits of RSS.

RSS Tutorial - Organization

Each lesson has a Summary and Detail.

• Read the summary for general information. It presents the key points.
• Read as much of the detail as you choose to fill in the blanks.
• Some lessons have reference material for additional reading.

RSS Tutorial - Notes

• The RSS Tutorial is updated periodically. I collect new material in the interim. I collect interesting articles, blog posts, and product and service information in a link blog called RSS Tutorial Reference Blog.
• I keep a change log for the RSS Tutorial in an RSS feed file called the RSS Tutorial Change Log.
• Feedback is welcome.

  • Feel free to add questions or comments on each page of the tutorial.
• The RSS Tutorial uses CSS to hold the outline on the page while scrolling the lesson text. I suggest setting the browser to full screen using F11 on both Firefox and  Internet Explorer.

• The color scheme was picked because it was close to orange, the RSS color standard.
